A brief look at the kernel src.rpm tells me that it does not have >1GB
support, but I am not sure that I was looking at the one that you would
install.

If you are getting servers of that size, you definitely should compile
your own kernel, even if there is no problem with the memory size.
I can think of a number of optimizations that I tend to apply to the
kernels I install.
