Hello,

An interesting observation.. If I access the internet on my in-house network,
which is a dial up into Ameritech here in the Chicago area, I can get
sustained data transfer rates of like 5k/second, with no pauses. This is
using a windows machine to dial-up, and internet connection sharing.

When I make the SAME CONNECTION with my Zoom PCMCIA modem
on the SAME COMPUTER, and I do indeed connect at the same rate, with the
same parameters (no hardware compression, only TCP/IP protocol selected in
windows, etc, etc) I can't get even HALF the data rate! If I put up the
throughput graph, there are bursts, with 1-2 second pauses between them,
whereas the windows connection is continuous data.

Anybody else seen this? Any idea how to fix it?

        Vinny
