[Cooker] When to change kernel

I have an Athlon chip with k7 architecture.
The kernel I am using is 2.4.2-15.mdk, and the architecture of my system is 
i686 according to it. 
Should I recompile it and just change the architecture (the first choice as I 
recall), compile the new one (2.4.3) which I just downloaded, or wait for 
beta 3 -which if it's as much better than beta2 as beta2 was from beta1 I 
will fain swoon- and see how it works on my A7V133.
