And some more info - attempting to select a single package using "urpmi <package name>" causes parsehdlist to go into a loop on my failing machine. Something's really goofed in the mix here, could be two separate problems. The LIST issue appears to be something with the ftp failing with the connection reset. Weird that it's only urpmi, not urpmi.update (on my system).
