Your X accel is probably not configured properly. Can you have a look at
your /var/log/XFree86.0.log and help us troubleshoot? Please look for
things such as the following (working on my 3dfx):
[gc@obiwan ~] grep "direct rendering" /var/log/XFree86.0.log
(II) TDFX(0): direct rendering enabled
You'll find "disabled", probably. Please look at the logs before this
sentence to try and understand what failed.
Most of the time, the point is missing "Load "dri"" and/or "Load "glx"" in
your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4.
