I have noticed the lack of PCMCIA support in the RC1
version of Mandrake 8. During install my network card
is detected correctly but upon reboot the cardmanager
does not start. When I try to manually start it I get
errors that the modules are not there, even though
they are. I also noticed the lack of the profiles at
boot, there used to be an option to boot to an office
profile in the lilo boot menu. I am using a Tecra
8100 laptop and hope th be able to set up the profiles
again since at work I am docked and of course am not
docked at home. In the past versions of Mandrake I
could usually get the Xircom PCMCIA card working but
not the sound (YMFPCI)at the same time. I have tried
SuSE 7.1 and it does this quite well but does not have
the profiles. I would like to stick with Mandrake
though, will there be a way of choosing which profile
to boot into in the next release?
