Anyone have any information about how well Linux supports webcams?

i thimk Video for Linux has some support for Webcams but check the
readme/docs
in the kernel source tree to make sure.
I kmow that the Logitech webcam in B&W and color has an "opensourced"
driver
but not sure about the rest of them
