I tried.
RedHat seemed to work better, for my scanner, my dvd, my graphic card. But
something was wrong. First of all this morning I could not startx for I had a
"respawing too fast" and, later, some files missing... :(
Moreover, something strange was running in background that each 2 minutes
eated all of my cpu, I could not even move the mouse for 3-4 seconds...
Moreover, wheel mouse was not working...
OK, I said, come back to the Linux world. I mean, come back to Mandrake!
I installed ALL (this time I have really ALL installed, each library!), I
could compile xine, crack it with libcss, xine_css. I installed the NVidia
driver provided by Con Colivas (really thanks!!!), downgraded to the 7.2's
sane package and now... it totally works. It took a bit for minor changes,
also for my scsi subsystem that needed to modify modules.conf and rebuild
initrd (brrrr...) but now it's really really OK.
So, thanks Mandrakers for that work in 8.0... ;o)
