Ok, the text "Welcome to Linux-Mandrake Cooker!" was a bit misleading,
so that I thought the hd.img was forgotten to update.

BTW: I have noticed that symlinks are not resolved when hd.img asks
for the directory (you have to use the real path).

Installation type: hd.img, with mirrored ftp directory

Error message: An error occured
nothing found while parsing /mnt/var/lib/urpmi/hdlist.Installation CD
(disk1).cz.

After this I burned the CD's and updated MDK 7.2 -> 8.0. Unfortunately
the upgrade didn't go well either. I had some serious problems during
the updating process and after installation the system didn't even
boot. Here are the most serious problems:

* mkbootdisk failed (unresolved, but maybe something to do with the
next one)

* The installation of bootloader failed because of error while loading
shared library: /lib/libsafe.so.1.3. For some reason it was not removed
from /etc/ld.so.preload

* My RivaTNT was detected as Riva128. After I had corrected the settings
manually and tested them I got following error: the graphics card does
not like X in framebuffer. (XFree 4.0.3)

* After rebooting the system hanged up with 2.4.3 (VFS panic).. The
problem arises from ReiserFS (I think it has something to do with the
reiserfsprogs, I'll try to resolve this). With 2.2.19 the system booted.

* With the 2.2.19 the kernel booted but the system hanged up in the
init: error while loading shared library: /lib/libsafe.so.1.3. Removing
that from the /etc/ld.so.preload did the trick.

* Gnome didn't work propertly until I deleted .gnome*/ (and removed the
helix-gnome packages).

* dhcpd was started at the boot time, LM Control Center said that it
was not even running.

* rpmdrake doesn't show other packages than those which come with
Mandrake. So you can't remove for example helix rpm's with it.

There is also some other issues to be solved, but I'll try to resolve
them before I brother you with them.

Regards,
  Matias
