Well, updated the kernel to 2.4.3-22mdk
Kinda a mistake on my part, here's what happened
Basicaly, on reboot, mdk was unable to find my soundcard module es**70, my
ethernet card ( 3com 3c-450 ( uses the 3c590 cyclone module) my usb module.
I tried running hard drake drom console, ran config tools, selected
apropriate modules, but got error saying it couldnt locate them.
Now if this is just user stupidity, apologies to all for wasting your time,
but figured I'd post something in case it was a real problem
