Done, to no avail.
Have you read the message from Arnd Bergmann (Broken Type 1 font
rendering)? Don't you think that could be the cause? In fact I have
exactly the same problem with every application rendering Type 1 fonts
(I believe) to the screen: Abiword, StarOffice, etc.
