Please excuse if already brought up, for various reasons I have not had
time to thoroughly examine the ml.
Also I apologize for the html mail earlier. I was using the web based
client for my email and forgot that it doesn't send plain text because
it must advertise.

The problem

On cooker install (mirror ftp.rpmfind.net and 1 or 2 others methinks) no
initrd is created and on the most recent attempt, mkinitrd wasn't even
installed. This keeps a number of people from being able to boot
(kernel panic: root fs not mounted) including those who use scsi
controllers not supported in the kernel. lilo.conf contains no entry
for initrd. Not sure why this be happening. If there was a problem
with the mkinitrd package (i.e. not fetched or not right) than when lilo
went looking for initrd.img it would have stalled and complained. It
didn't, though, because there was no mention of it in lilo.conf. hmm...
any other info needed? I have some but it really not relevant
methinks. I'm really unsure about this one.
