You can use it by launching it from another term.
Anyway, i just uploaded a new package with menu entry.
If you don't want to upgrade the package just do this:
cat << EOF > /usr/lib/menu/aterm
?package(aterm):\
needs=x11 \
section=Terminals \
title="ATerm"\
longtitle="A terminal emulator for the X Window System" \
command="/usr/bin/aterm -name Terminal" \
icon="terminals-section.xpm"
EOF
after that, do an update-menus.
