I also had problems booting my reiserfs root fs with some of the -ac
 kernels just before and just after 2.4.4, but 2.4.4-ac6 fixed the 
problem for me.
Luckily, I always keep at least one working kernel installed, so
I could use 2.4.3-ac14 while waiting for the fix.
