Last night, I've updated the setup package. After I did, quite some entries
from /etc/group and /etc/passwd were GONE! For example, I have squid
installed, and squid requires its own user and group called 'squid'. After
the update, these groups were gone. I had to manually add those groups and
users again!
Further, I've added some user accounts to the users group. While the users
group survived the update (did it? or was it just replaced by a new
entry?), none of the users were still members of these groups.
Why is this happening? Short of investigating, could /etc/{groups,passwd}
please be *REMOVED* from the setup package, and instead added to a to be
created setup-accounts package, which should contain nothing but those two
files?
This is *EXTREMELY* annoying!
