Exactly, that's what I'm trying to do - an FTP install.

Yeah, true. I home I've got a local Cooker mirror, containing all the files
which are in the cooker tree. Especially, it contains a correct hdlist
file. Regenerating the hdlist file everytime you need to run urpmi.update
-a takes just too long.
That's why I *only* do FTP installs -> ftp://localhost.
