No offense but I am not a psychic so I can't read your mind or simply your
logs. ;-) If you ran configure, the error may be reported in the tail of
config.log.

BTW, in most cases, it may be enough to type:
CC="gcc-3.0" CXX="g++-3.0" ./configure <options>
