Another set of problems I observed:
1) /boot/initrd.img is a symlinks to a file of ABSOLUTE path. This won't
work for those who has a separate /boot partition. It was reported and bug
fixed before, however it surfaces again......
2) Seems crystal sound was badly broken since 2.4.4. I'm using thinkpad
A20m, so it's cs46xx.o (not alsa, just oss). In 2.4.4, modules loads
correctly and mixer is ok too, but there is simply no sound ---- no matter
what sound file you're trying to play, there is no sound. It's worse for
2.4.5 ---- a kernel null pointer fault, just not a fatal one.
