OK, so it's not in the doccumentation, but it IS in the source code. The
globe is a "virtual track ball".. which I think was implemented AFTER the
last time I thought it "worked" - ie, displayed North America if both search
endpoints were there (I may have just been imagining it - was months ago.
In order to move the globe, got to left click on it, and drag the mouse in
the direction you want the globe to go! cool!
Anyway, needs to have the doc's updated.. I'll drop a note to the author
and see if it's something he either is doing, or see if he'd like help with
it.
