Hi

I installed most of the packages from MandrakeFreq using the Software
Manager (except KDE 2.2 alpha).

The good news are:
    - kernel 2.4.5-5mdksmp fixed my pbm with my Promise Ultra100 TX2
basically I can now access the dma mode for my 2 drives using
this card, and that makes a difference!
      hdparm -t /dev/hde reports 38.10 MB/sec for my UDMA100 drive
      hdparm -t /dev/hdg reports 22.38 MB/sec for my UDMA66 drive

Both entries were giving around 1.70 MB/sec with LM 8.0 2.4.3
      (no comment)

    - XFree86 4.1.0 seems ok so far, even with my binary NVidia
      driver 1.0-1251

    - Nautilus, Galeon, Evolution seem to be working fine as well.

The bad news:
    - I can't use "iptables" anymore...
      #iptables -L gives:
iptables v1.2.2: can't initialize iptables table 'filter': Module
      is wrong version
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded

note: I had the pbm after upgrading to the kernel-smp from
MandrakeFreq, I then downloaded iptables-1.2.2 from cooker
            but same pbm

Is it possible that the iptable_filter module in net/ipv4/netfilter
      is misbehaving?

Also I recompiled my own kernel from 2.4.5-5mdk source and same
      pbm.

Any idea?

Conclusion: Thanks Mandrake for the update (it really fixes a big pbm
on my system) but I now need iptables to work :)

Pls reply to my email address, I'm only suscribed to "expert".

Cheers,
Fred
