RPM and urpmi aren't very intuitive, nor they are appropriate tool for
installation. When I want installation, I want installation. I don't want
to type this and that to get things install. I want a single click on an
application, and it installs. For console, it should be the same. I want a
console menu.
RPM doesn't have rollback. Assuming I have installed 7 patches, and I want
to rollback to the 5th patch and rollforward to the 8th patch. Assuming I
install version 2.1 and then upgrade to version 2.2. How do I rollback to
version 2.1 of that application? There are a few things an installer can
become more intillgent about. RPM is just a start. Installshield, well,
that's M$ territory, and it doesn't do much of what I know an installer
*should* be doing.
There's more room to improvement.
