You can change it, but not use the RAID options (for that you need to
reinstall):

ide0: hda, hdb
ide1: hdc, hdd
ide2: hde, hdf
ide3: hdg, hdh

That means that if you change your disk from hda to hde, you need to
change all the occurences of hda for hde (hdaX for hdeX also).

Notice that you also need a booting floppy, as the system will not
boot the first time, you need to boot with 
     rescue root=/dev/hdeX
and then run lilo.
