I'm getting this message since kernel 2.4.6-1mdk (I just tested 2.4.6-3mdk:
same problem) on my ThinkPad with a build in network card after resuming
from a suspend to disk.
I found a workaround for this: I have to remove the module for my
network card (rmmod eepro100) and then bring up the interface again (ifup
eth0).
