Hello,
OK, number of issues about today's install. This time was on my
main machine - my stupid Gateway laptop.
Pixel - the installer makes entries in grub for the 2.2 kernel, even if I
didn't select it. Entries in the /boot directory include System.map and
System.map-2.2.19-15mdk. There is also a vmlinuz-2.4.6-5mdk and a
vmlinuz-2.2.19-15mdk I did NOT select to install anything 2.2. Is this
normal? I thought earlier that I might have accidently hit a 2.2 kernel
entry with careless mouse pointing, however with this install I made a not to
make sure that this wasn't the case.
The new install stuff for CUPS is confusing. Even after selecting a printer,
it still says "remote cups server" under printer.
The bit in the HELP text about the default printer is good - too bad i
didn't notice it until later.
Shouldn't Mesa be selected if mesa-demos is? I don't think the demos run
without the package.
I realize that nobody reads boot messages anymore.. but who the heck is
Yaupouvoy? and what did he say? (Sorry - but I am monolingual, and it isn't
in English)
The network script problem is STILL THERE. I applied the patch to get
back in business, but this is still broken.
Hey, Pixel - another silly suggestion. If the person installing clicks the
"details" button when the files load, so that progress bars are displayed
instead of the pictures, is there any way to remember that? The next time
files load - like when getting network or printing stuff - it reverts back to
the pictures, and you have to click the details button again.
Also - the thingy to get the file list off the floppy works GREAT!
More later..
