Curiously enough..I have implemented most of these
already (all but switching the 100dpi and the 75
dpi...which I will test after this email). I still
have not found out why the font appearance changes so
drastically so that when the adobe-helvetica, etc
fonts are prominent, that the ikarus style fonts are
hidden and vice-versa.

I only found "Apply Fonts and Colors to non-KDE apps"
in this section. I have been leaving this unchecked
because I think I read somewhere that it has caused
some problems with the latest XFree86. Can anyone
confirm this or remind me what the issue is?
The one you are talking about is found in KDE control
Center->LookNFeel->Fonts and I have had it checked.
