Uhm... you are not forgetting of course that ext3 started it's life on
2.2 are you? Further I can let you in that it is only on 2.4 (when it
is/was) because a couple of kernel hackers (Peter Braam and Eric Mei)
at a company I just left (yup, unemployed again :-) decided to go on a
hacking spree one weekend and got a decent amount of it ported to 2.4.
The existing porting/writing effort by Andrew Morton et. al started
from that work by Peter and Eric.
