Hello,
I'm still having a problems with my DVD drive not reading DVD's under linux,
but reading CDs just fine. I know a loooong time ago there was a bug that
would not let you read past like 650MB if the drive read a CD before it read
a DVD, but I don't think that's the problem. None of the DVD players will
read files off the disk, and even though I can see the files with Konqueror
or the ls command in the console, trying to read them or copy them gives an
I/O error.
The drive is a Matshita DVD-ROM model SR-8171, looks like version 059d
firmware. This drive reads OK and plays DVD's under windows on this machine.
As far as I can tell, it doesn't have hard region coding.
