As this is the way gcc compiles:

 - compile an "mini-gcc" (stage1/xgcc) with any *cc installed
 - compile another (stage2/xgcc) with stage1/gcc
 - compile whole gcc (stage3/xgcc) with stage2/xgcc
 - while (
     differ(
        code_produced_by_stageN_gcc,
        code_produced_by_stageN-1_gcc
     )) {
       - compile stageN+1_gcc with stageN_gcc
       - N++
     }

it should not matter what gcc version is installed .. objections?
