Why are they different ? Aren't they created by the installer ? Or by you,
by hand ?
To see what's inside the initrd's, you may:
$ zcat /boot/initrd > /tmp/plop
$ mount -o loop /tmp/plop /mnt/disk
$ cd /mnt/disk
<inspect>
