No. I guess, it should not even install (at least, last time I tried to 
update MAKEDEV that is built from the same SRPM, it said "mounted devfs 
detected" - or like - and aborted).

You mean "on disk /dev"? You do not need. Of course, if you ever boot 
without devfs ...
