Out of curiosity I booted my LM 7.2 box and tested this. It behaves the same
way as the 8.1 beta 2. This works fine from the console, but does not work
under either KDE or GNOME. Strange that it works under 8.0, but not 7.2 or
8.1... Maybe equally strange that it works from the console, but not from
any of the windows managers (that I have access to)...
