I'll be pleased to do so, but please qualify... how do I do this as part 
of mkbootdisk?  BTW, initrd OK for hd boot.

Wrong.  ext2 everywhere.  Adaptec 2940AU for 1 scsi disk, dvd-rom and 
cd-rw.
