Guillaume, you are missing the point.

The "rootflags" flag is meant for passing parameters to the kernel for
mounting the root filesystem.  It's functionality should be preserved
through any and all enhancements a distribution should/could make.

Oh, I should "guess" what I could possibly need to do in an
unpredictable situation when I need to recover a filesystem and build
a zillion initrds for every possible combination?
