Not sure which one did it at this moment and maybe it wasn't them, but
after updating some packages for
beta3 this afternoon about 3pm CST USA, noticed that after updating with Software Manager that Gnome Desktop was acting strangely. Couldn't open the Trashbin (screen would kindof flash and then just desktop still there), If opened my Home Folder, noticed the same home folder icon from desktop in there (can't remember, may have been there before), tried the home folder several times and about 80% of the time Nautilus would complain about the History side bar. Then maybe the next time it would work. Also couldn't open the trash folder from there either. Then the worst part happened. I decided to reboot. Complete system
crash!!!!
Figured that everything should be there and would try to rescue from the
CD, didn't do much
cause in my /etc folder noticed a lot of folders missing.
So decided to do a Expert Upgrade from the Installation CD. It only gets to
'setup filesystems' then tells me the
bad news: 'an error occurred: No root partition found to perform an
upgrade.' Clicked OK and it just started looking
for root again.
Going to take awhile to figure out which package did it. After I reinstall
only going to do a package or two and reboot each time, unless
someone has a clue. Everything was pretty much working really well, updates
fixed a lot of problems, upgrade to rpmdrake fixed getting
the upgrades,.... Now complete crash. I think it was Nautilus, wish I knew.
I also wish they would just take Nautilus completely out of the
picture it is nothing but trouble. |
