For some time now (first reported to kde list 23 August), when trying to
start any KDE apps from _any_ x-terminal produced "error while
loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/libkdeui.so.3: undefined symbol:
styleChange__8QToolBarR6QStyle" - and the program wouldn't run. Type the
same command after doing [Alt-F2] and it works.

At last I've found out what causes it. Kylix. Kylix uses its own (in
/usr/local/kylix/bin) libqt.so.2.2.4, which is OK, except that Kylix adds
its paths to the environment in /etc/profile, so the different libqt.so
libraries conflict.

I've found that I can safely remove the Kylix addition to /etc/profile.
This removes the libkdeui error and Kylix still works. It took me a whole
month to track this one down, which makes me feel somewhat foolish, but
I've been doing too many things at once - new hardware, new KDE and
keeping up with Cooker - I clean forgot I'd installed kylix!

Regards,
Peter
