hmm.  I am a fan of isolinux.  Use it with other distros.
So are you suggesting mandrake will have it available that we could say 
by default do a cdrom.img from the cd for normal install from that cd, 
or say, boot from the cd but use hd.img?  yay...
but with the cd2 thing.  to test it should boot to cd2 and it will 
prompt to put cd1 back in?
