Pardon me, but

- it is no fix. Fix is when you know *why* it hangs
- I simply killed all kdeinit's, started again and it worked. So your
"easy fix" has nothing to do with it and is pure coincidence. That is
exactly what is irritating.
- are you going to explain it to every future Mandrake 8.1 user? :-)
