Hi folks,
today I tried to install the iptables package (latest version: 1.2.2-8mdk),
but when I try to run the activation script (/etc/rc.d/init.d/iptables start)
I get the following errors:

Flushing all current rules and user defined chains: iptables v1.2.2: can't
initialize iptables table `filter': Module is wrong version
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded.
                                                           [FALLITO]
Clearing all current rules and user defined chains: iptables v1.2.2: can't
initialize iptables table `filter': Module is wrong version
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded.
                                                           [FALLITO]
Applying iptables firewall rules: [ OK ]
iptables-restore v1.2.2: iptables-restore: unable to initializetable 'mangle'

Try `iptables-restore -h' or 'iptables-restore --help' for more information.
                                                           [FALLITO]

If I try to lsmod I find that only module ip_tables has been loaded (neither
iptable_filter nor iptable_mangle nor any other ip* module). If I query the
service status (/etc/rc.d/init.d/iptables status) i get nothing and if I try
to stop the service (/etc/rc.d/init.d/iptables stop) I get:

Resetting built-in chains to the default ACCEPT policy:iptables v1.2.2: can't
initialize iptables table `filter': Module is wrong version
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded.
                                                           [FALLITO]

and module ip_tables is still loaded.

I'm running kernel-2.4.8-1mdklinus. Do I need a Mandrake kernel to run
iptables? Has my system been compromised? What else?

Thanks for your attention.
