Hi,

I noticed that on the vim-install, including vim-enhanced, does not
contain vimdiff. I know about vimdiff because the OpenBSD port does
have it and itssssssss *gr8*

NAME
vimdiff - edit two or three versions of a file with Vim
       and show differences

Ok now we are still discussing OpenBSD, lets talk about a FreeBSD tool
that I learned to love, it's called mergemaster. After an update it
creates a new /var/tmp/etc/ and starts comparing it with /etc/ so you
can merge any changed files during the updates.

I think it is a great tool for updaters to check their settings.

Off course linux updates are done in a completely different way.
Namely changed files are saved as /etc/blah.rpmnew. But the pricipal
is the same. At the moment all you get after an update is a warning.

Off course it should be pollicy that after an update the /etc/ files
are checked for updates. Helps to keep the system consistant. Off
course vimdiff comes in the picture as a tool to do that.

What do you think?

Cya, Han.
