It depends how cdrecord enumerates burners.

If it scans /dev for all sg* entries it won't work automatically
(because they do not exist yet). If it tries to open /dev/sg0, /dev/sg1,
... directly it will work (because devfsd loads sg module on access to
/dev/sg*).

Does cdrecord work if you manually set it to use /dev/sg0?
