Found it.  Thanks for the tip.

Does it also make sense to put my modem->ttySn links in here as well?

Then the hardware config is broken as it brings up the error dialog
referring me to the linmodems.org page instead of allowing me to
configure the modem.

Thanks again; outside of these few little things, Mandrake 8.1 is
working perfectly.
