Not true.  Installed from mdk rpm from 8.1 installion.  But I _do_ have 
Mandrake customisation for menus disabled.  My menu entry for gkrellm is 
in /home/peter/.kde/share/applnk/System as well as in 
/usr/share/applnk-mdk/Applications/Monitoring.

Yes, I believe it is - it certainly runs before ~/.kde/Autostart - think 
about it - kicker is started from /usr/share/autostart - that should 
paint a picture of when it runs.
