I have a Mandrake 8.1 system with 2GB memory that I want to run the enterprise kernel on. 2.4.12-5mdk boots up fine and I see all the memory. But, the two ethernet cards will not come up. I boot with the non-enterprise kernel and they do so I believe they are configured correctly.
An ifconfig eth0 shows the same ip address and mask. If if try to enable interface with "ifconfig eth0 up", I receive a "SIOCSIFFLAGS: Device or resource busy" message. The Mandrake control center Connection panel works OK but shows the ethernet cards as down. If I toggle the panel "Connect button", I get a message "The system doesn't seem to be connected to the internet. Try to reconfigure your connection." The 2.4.12-5-enterprise kernel is the first enterprise kernel I have successfully booted since installing mandrake 8.1 so I could not test networking with earlier versions. Thanks, Ben
