do you have a thread about this ? I'm willing to read this ( kernel ML traffic is to huge and there's no discussion about that in lastest kernel-traffic ). Time for a great debate concerning devfs implementation in the kernel ? > It was a major change incorporating this and I doubt our beloved kernel > maintainers would be quick to change back. I always use it since it incorpaoration in cooker kernel. Except for nvidia devices I never have problem. And fortunately for nvidia it's easy to fix. > Yes, it can be a bother, but it would look _so_ M$-ish to put it in for > 8.1 and back out for 8.2 (sorry, been dealing with having to support > upgrading winusers here). Even if there's many problems mandrakesoft should keep using devfs. Devfs is a great thing use by some BSD and Unices that need test under Linux. By its works, Mandrakesoft, the first mainstream distribution that intgrate devfs, help to improve devfs. Maybe a closer cooperation with the devfs maintainer will help to fix bugs and improve this. -- http://perso.wanadoo.fr/linux_wizard/index.html - Quand je pense que ma prsence ici-bas n'est due qu'a deux personnes qui se sont envoyes en l'air, je deviens philosophe.
