Hi,
I have just recently subscribed to this list because of my concious decision
to user the mandrake cooker on a daily basis. i have tried to get
MandrakeUpdate/rpmdrake to work but I ran into problems with proxies even
though I had it configured properly so I went looking for alternatives and I
found the rpm enabled version of apt aparently from the Mandrake Cooker on
rpmfind.net although I don't see it in the recent Mandrake cooker. I have
since used it to update my entire distribution to cooker and update on a
daily basis to cooker almost effortlessly. I find it to be quite a mature
tool and was wondering what the reason is that Mandrake is putting so much
effort into urpmi instead of just using apt. I personally would like to see
urpmi trashed and apt with rpm used instead. Can anyone give me the reasons
that Mandrake has chosen not to do this?

Michael
