OK, so now I try to use two applications at once with the quickcam.. if only to see what would happen. So I fire up gqcam, and get a nice picture, then point my web browser to w3cam. w3cam says the device is busy. gqcam starts flashing ! OK this is weird. so I kill gqcam and hit refresh on the browser, and w3cam says that permission is denied on /dev/video.
sooo. I go into /dev and look, and there's a NEW ENTRY! /dev/video1. Says it's owned by root, and has a creation date of Dec 31, 1969. 1) should it be making a new entry on the fly, just because the device is busy? 2) If the answer is YES - shouldn't the date make a little more sense? 3) permission is 600 - which doesn't make sense. V.
