When you install cooker, it automatically adds contrib:

{pts/1}% cat /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg
Installation\ CD\ (disk1)
removable_cdrom://mnt/hd/cooker/i586/Mandrake/RPMS {
  hdlist: hdlist.Installation CD (disk1).cz
  with_hdlist: ../base/hdlist.cz
  list: list.Installation CD (disk1)
  removable: /dev/discs/disc2/part4
}

Contrib\ CD\ (disk2) removable_cdrom://mnt/hd/cooker/i586/Mandrake/RPMS2
{
  hdlist: hdlist.Contrib CD (disk2).cz
  with_hdlist: ../base/hdlist2.cz
  list: list.Contrib CD (disk2)
  removable: /dev/discs/disc2/part4
}

But see recetn discussion about urpmi - version 2.0 is still broken in
that

- it requires RPMS2 be on the first media to be able to update
hdlist2.cz
- but if you try to install anything from contrib and insert first media
that has RPMS2, urpmi enters busy loop looking for missing packages
forever :-(

But if you did HD install, you just have file:// instead of removable://
and everything works nicely. Just do

urpmi.addmedia contrib file://path/to/contrib/RPMs with
../relative/path/to/hdlist

strictly speaking, hdlist is not needed, urpmi will scan RPMs to
generate it on-the-fly.
