My guess is he meant for build target, and that would be -march=i586
right?  Well, =ppro =k6 and whatever the athlon equiv is are working for
other mozzy qa volunteers.  Most can do -O3 (with some scattered
non-show-stopper bugs) and all can easily build and run -O2.
I'm baffled.  Default opts are -O (being changed real soon ;p), and this
certainly I don't consider satisfactory.  I have no choice now but to
hack around and build -O3 and see if I can run into the problems you
have and track 'em down.  Can you d/l the gcc3 or gcc295 stock builds
that are done with -O2 and try them out?
