Till, Installed this code on my system; won't have access to the remote machine where I found this problem for several days yet. In reading your changes, I'm still left with a question: why should cups even have code to modify /etc/hosts...? Wouldn't it be a better approach to have a central location for doing this, with logging to /var/log...? This way, there'd be only one place to fix it, and having such changes logged would help reduce the confusion that can occur when the "system" makes changes. Finding such covert changes is not always obvious and IMHO, is really what we used to call "spaghetti code"... no? Thanks, Pierre
