I just checked the security updates and found several... tried to install Apache security update; but I got problems with mod_ssl module... this has resulted in the discovery of some Software Installer problems:
0. Are there problems with the server (ftp.stealth.net) or just the modules? apache's mod_ssl is not signed and sometimes claims to be corrupt... 1. The Software sources lists one garbage entry (last one): http://pfortin.com/Linux/SoftwareManagerSources.png 2. The Software Installer presented this dialog: http://pfortin.com/Linux/SoftwareInstallerSig-mod_ssl.png and I closed it by clicking on the [X] which left the Installer hung. Restarted the Installer which now hangs like this: http://pfortin.com/Linux/SoftwareInstallerHang.png which required xkill to terminate. 3. To restart the Software Manager, you have to select anything *else* in the MCC tree, then re-select the Software Installer. Of course, since the installer won't finish starting up, I had to resort to restarting MCC. Unfortunately, MCC now only asks for the root password, accepts that, and never starts now... Trying to start MCC manually, gives: > # DrakConf & > [3] 24810 > # Subroutine _ redefined at /usr/X11R6/bin/drakconf.real line 271. > Subroutine translate redefined at /usr/X11R6/bin/drakconf.real line 276. Weirder... Started without backgrounding: > # DrakConf > Subroutine _ redefined at /usr/X11R6/bin/drakconf.real line 271. > Subroutine translate redefined at /usr/X11R6/bin/drakconf.real line 276. > Hit <ctl+c> and MCC window popped up! Selecting Software Manager simply gives: http://pfortin.com/Linux/SoftwareInstallerHang.png So MCC is seriously broke after trying to install latest apache which is corrupt(?) on the server. My Software Manager is now totally fscked, so if anyone wants more information, just ask... :^Pierre
